Etymology

Afšīn is form of the Middle PersianPišīn, which traces back to Avestan Pisinah. In Persian mythology, it is the name of a grandson of Kay Kawad (Yt. 13.132, 19.71) found as a proper name attested by Armenian historians in the form Ōšin (from Awšin).[3]

    Afshin was born on May 6, 1978…Iran. His family relocated to Tehran when he was 7 years old. At the age of 10, Afshin begin playing guitar and writing his own songs and lyrics. www.afshinmusic.com.

    During this time, pop music was banned in Iran. In 1995, Afshin and his family migrated to Mannheim, Germany so that he could pursue his musical career. The move resulted in 1999 release of Afshin’s first CD entitle “Scent of Rain” on the Iranian US label “Parsvideo”. His second album “Stars” was released in 2002 and was the first production with Kostas Karagiozidis. “Star” was published by the big Persian label “Taraneh Enterprises” (LA/USA).

    In 2014, “Aso Pas” (Dire strait) was released and quickly became a major success worldwide. With this album afshin found his unique style : a mixture of pop, danke, Hip Hop and of course, Persian and oriental rhythms and melodies with German rap.
