Abi Morgan
Abi Morgan was born in Cardiff and, after initial ambitions to become an actress, she decided to become a writer while studying drama and literature at Exeter University. She went on to take a postgraduate writing course at the Central School of Speech and Drama (London). She first started writing for television on shows such as Peak Practice and an adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' novel Birdsong. She has since also written the screenplays for several films, including The Iron Lady, Brick Lane, and Suffragettes.
Abi Morgan has also become well known for her plays, beginning with the 1998 production, Skinned. Other notable dramas include Splendour (2000), Tender (2001), Monster Mum (2005), Lovesong (2011), and The Mistress Contract (2014). In 2002, she was nominated as "most promising playwright" at the Laurence Olivier Awards. In 2018, she was awarded an OBE.

Award-winning playwright and screenwriter Abi Morgan is well-known to theatre goers and lovers of television and the cinema.
Her plays include Skinned, Sleeping Around, Splendour (Paines Plough); Tiny Dynamite (Traverse); Tender (Hampstead Theatre);.Fugee (National Theatre), 27 (National Theatre of Scotland), Love Song (Frantic Assembly) and The Mistress Contract (Royal Court Theatre). Her television work includes My Fragile Heart, Murder, Sex Traffic, Tsunami – The Aftermath, White Girl, Royal Wedding, Birdsong, The Hour, River and The Split. She is currently writing a new series for Netflix.
