The art of Obed Gómez Original Art & Prints

Puerto Rican contemporary artist Obed Gómez expresses himself in a variety of media, including acrylic on canvas, watercolor, pencil, ink and pastel. As a Latin American artist his passion for life and art is vividly depicted in his colorful pieces.

Obed was born on October, 1966 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. From a very early age he demonstrated interest in drawing. He studied at the League of Art of San Juan where he expanded his knowledge in drawing and painting. He also attended art classes at the Andrés Bueso Academy of Arts and earned a B.A. degree in Visual Art at the University of Sacred Heart in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He lived in Puerto Rico until he relocated to the United States in 1995 with his family.

Obed’s rich ethnic background – Hispanic, Taino Indian and African – as well as his love for nature, influence his work which has been exhibited in the USA, Europe and the Caribbean.

Obed Gómez a.k.a. "The Puerto Rican Picasso" (born 1966) is a Puerto Rican artist of modern art.

Early years

Gómez was born and raised in Santurce, a section of in San Juan, the capital city of Puerto Rico. His grandmother was the first to believe that someday he would become an artist when she saw him drawing at the age of three. He received his primary education in a public school, however when he was eleven he took private art classes. He was sent to the League of Art of San Juan, where he took classes in drawing and painting.[1]

After Gómez graduated from high school, he enrolled in the University of the Sacred Heart in San Juan. He also studied simultaneously at the Andres Buseo Academy where he took art classes. He earned his bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in visual arts from the University of the Sacred Heart.[2]

At first he was not successful as an artist and instead he faced personal problems which kept him from fulfilling his potential as an artist. His life changed when he moved to O

Obed Gomez Vargas (born August 5, 2005) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC. Born in the United States, he represents the Mexico national team.[2]

Club career

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Vargas began his career with Cook Inlet Soccer Club before moving to Washington and joining the youth academy for Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC.[3][4] He played in the academy for two seasons before signing a professional contract with Sounders FC reserve side Tacoma Defiance on May 7, 2021.[5] A couple days later, on May 9, Vargas made his senior debut for Tacoma Defiance in the USL Championship against LA Galaxy II. He started and played 66 minutes as the match ended in a 1–1 draw.[6]

He made his MLS debut for Seattle on July 22, 2021, as one of several Tacoma Defiance players called up to the Sounders for a match against Austin FC to replace injured players. At 15 years and 351 days old, Vargas was the third-youngest
