Tim neumark biography

Tim Neumark is an artist that I've been working with since his 2007 debut, Biography, both writing reviews and proof-reading his sheet music. We did our first interview in 2014and we met later that year when he did a house concert here with Neil Patton. In 2015, I needed to re-do MainlyPiano.com because Apple was discontinuing their iWeb software, and Tim offered to help me out. What a job that was, but he's still my webmaster and is the reason that the site runs so smoothly! Tim has been composing and arranging a lot of new music lately, so this seemed like a good time to update his interview.

KP: Tim! How are things back East on this first day of spring?

TN: Hi Kathy! It's a bit overcast here, but there's a cat warming my lap while I edit this latest improv that I've completed. I'm sure you'll be getting another sheet music proofing request from me soon!

KP: Great! Those have been a lot of fun! You've been completing lots of improvs lately, but first, let's talk about your new album! You recently released Opus 8, and I said in my review that I thought it was your bes

Review by Kathy Parsons

The Biography songbook is the companion sheet music book to Tim Neumark’s debut CD by the same name and contains all eleven original compositions from that recording (Tim was unable to print his arrangement of “Diamond Music” because of copyright restrictions, so that piece is not included). It is important to note that this version of the book has been completely redone. The revised version is a note-for-note match to the recording (with a couple of small changes that reflect how Tim plays the songs now and are clearly indicated in his “Notes From the Composer” at the back of the book). It includes more accurate dynamic markings, better use of bass and treble staff changes to improve readability and avoid excess ledger lines, and phrase markings to guide the performer. The notation is roomy and clear, and most pianists at an upper-intermediate playing level should have no problem mastering these songs. None of them are composed in difficult keys, and the timing is generally very straight-f

Tim was born and raised in the Mid-Atlantic, spending much of his youth in Frostburg, Maryland. In his childhood and early adulthood his foremost passion was athletics, and he participated in baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, and track. He also developed a taste for classical and new age music in his teenage years, but it wasn't until his later high school years that he discovered his talent for the piano.

For years, Tim travelled the country for work, frequently playing his own compositions in hotel lobbies. At the urging of his wife and others, he finally released his debut CD in 2007. Tim composes solo piano music that is "emotional, beautiful music that tells a story." Featuring a combination of classical and new age styles, he has released six solo piano albums.

His 2014 album Storm was named Best Solo Piano Album of 2014 by One World Music. In addition, Storm was named one of the best CDs of 2014 by Audiosyncracy, received two Hollywood Music in Media Award (HM
