From childhood to his career at JPL to his current ventures advising startups, Firouz Naderi was always an organizer and a doer. The skills that led him to numerous leadership positions at JPL are the same that he is currently applying in his semi-retired career in management consulting and advising for tech start-ups.
Naderi was born and raised in Iran where he excelled in school, and after a series of unexpected steps, he enrolled at Iowa State University for college, where he majored in electrical engineering. Naderi worked briefly as an engineer in California before beginning his graduate work at USC on digital image processing. He returned to Iran, but his career at the Remote Sensing Agency was cut short by the Revolution, and he soon returned to California to join JPL. Naderi has worked in a wide variety of jobs and fields at JPL, including being named Program Manager for Mars exploration, JPL Associate Director, and Director for Solar System •

Firouz Michael Naderi (Persian: فیروز نادری: Fīrouz Nāderi; March 25, 1946 – June 9, 2023)[1] was an Iranian American scientist who spent 36 years in various technical and executive positions at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he contributed to some of America's robotic space missions.[2]
Naderi retired from NASA in 2016 and most recently was a management consultant, an advisor to early-stage high-tech startups, and a public speaker. He was based in Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.[3]
