Ion Druţă, generally spelled "Ion Drutse" in English, (born September 3, 1928, Horodişte) is a writer from Moldova.

Druţă has been the honorary president of the Moldovan Writers' Union since 1987. He wrote initially in Moldovan, since 1960 also in Russian.

       Biography 

    His career began in 1994, at the Botanica Districtual Court in Chisinau, where 12 years later he made to its chairman. In 2013 Mr. Druta got transferred to the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and five years later he got promoted as CSJ’s chairman.

    In 2019, on 25 June, the High Council of Magistrates removes him from chairmanship following a complaint from a fellow judge who felt pressured and harassed by his chief. The Chisinau Court of Appeal restored Ion Druta to his post a month later. The Prosecutor-General’s Office moved in and on 2 October 2019 - one day after submission of his formal resignation - investigative officers held the judge for 72 hours to question him on allegations of illicit enrichment.

    Along his career in the judiciary system Ion Druta had examined cases involving financial disputes between the state and the private sector, and he is known for issuing controversial and sometimes illegal decisions that had drained the public budget.
