Lebanese – Swiss banker and financier

Salim Georges Sfeir is a Lebanese – Swiss banker and financier. He is the chairman and Chief Executive of Bank of Beirut S.A.L in Beirut, Lebanon since 1993 and the chairman of Association of Banks in Lebanon since June 29, 2019.[1][2]

Early life and education

Salim Sfeir was raised in Beirut. He received his B.S.S. degree in economics from the Université de Montréal and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy.[3] As an educator, Sfeir lectured at Lebanese University, Beirut University College, Haigazian College, l’Université Saint-Joseph and Le Centre d’études bancaires.

In the years to follow, he was appointed trustee on the board of directors of the Lebanese American University (LAU), Beirut and Byblos; vice-chairman of the board of trustees of the University of the Holy Spirit (USEK);[3] member of the board of trustees AMIDEAST; and vice-chairman of the American Friends of the Middle East, Beirut.

Biography

H.E. Monsignor Selim Jean Sfeir, was born in Rayfoun (Kesrwan – Lebanon) on the 02nd of September 1958.He was ordained a priest on the22nd May 1988at the Church of Saint Rock - Rayfoun and thenChorbishopon the 11th November 2020 at the Church of the Conversion of Saint Paul ( The Episcopal See ), Achkout.

He entered Ghazir Seminary in 1974 and obtained a Bachelor degree in Theology at the Pontifical College of Theology in Kaslik. In 2001 he received a Doctorate Degree in Canon and Civil Law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and the year after a MA Degree in Eastern Ecclesiastic Law from the Pontifical Oriental College.
He also holds a diploma in the Study of the Causes of Saints, Relatum in acta 46/X, of the Congregation of the Causes of Saints (1999).

He speaks Arabic, French, Italian, English and Greek and is the author of many books and articles - juridical Articles, especially on the Personal Doctrine of the Maronite Church, some printed at the Pontifical Oriental Faculty, and

The Association of Banks in Lebanon elects a new Board of Directors headed by Dr. Salim Sfeir

On the 29th of June 2019, Bank of Beirut CEO Mr. Salim Sfeir was unanimously elected as chairman of the Association of Banks in Lebanon. The new ABL Board of Directors also elected the general manager of Fransabank Mr. Nadim Kassar as Vice President, the chairman of Banque Libano-Francaise Mr. Walid Raphael as Secretary, and the chairman of the Lebanese Swiss Bank Dr. Tanal Sabbah as Treasurer.

Chairmen of Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries (BBAC), Mr. Ghassan Assaf; Bankmed, Mr. Mohammad Hariri; Byblos Bank, Mr. Semaan Bassil; Fenicia Bank, Mr. Abdel Razzak Achour; and SGBL, Mr. Antoun Sehnaoui, were maintained in the board of directors, while Bank Audi will be represented by its chairman Mr. Samir Hanna from now on.
