Robert J. Ulrich hails from the wonderful town of Modesto, California. After graduating from the University of Pacific in Stockton, he earned his Master's Degree in English from the University of Stanislaus and moved to NYC to pursue a vocation in acting. He eventually returned to California to begin a career in casting. While working at the prominent casting office of Reuben Cannon & Associates, Robert met his future partners Eric Dawson and Carol Kritzer. In 1989, Robert and Eric formed their own company, Ulrich/Dawson & Associates. Two years later Carol Kritzer came on board and they became, Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer Casting.

Throughout their career, they have worked with a staggering array of talented producers including; Francis Ford Coppola, Eric Kripke, Jerry Bruckheimer, James Cameron, Ron Howard, Wolfgang Petersen, Anne Rice, Steven Bochco, Aaron Spelling, Gail Berman, Carol Mendelsohn, Joel Surnow, Nikki Toscano, Susanne Bier, Austin Winsberg, Jodie Foster, and Ryan Murphy.

Robert J. Ulrich is an American casting director and producer active since the 1980s and best known for casting television shows including Glee, The Boys, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, CSI, Diagnosis: Murder and Matlock. He has also cast most Ryan Murphy productions since Popular in 1999. He has been nominated for eight Emmy Awards, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for casting Glee. He has been nominated for the Artios Awards 22 times and won twice, for casting Glee and Nip/Tuck.

Robert J. Ulrich began his career as a stage actor, but realized he would not be successful. He moved into casting and says he learned more about acting his first time behind the table than in his previous career.

Ulrich (born 1944) is an American retired businessman who was the chief executive officer and chairman of the Target Corporation, the second-largest mass merchandise retailer in the United States. Ulrich is credited with crafting Target's unique brand and marketing image and focus, which is widely considered to be a key contributor to the company's growth and success in the challenging retailing industry.

Ulrich was born in 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of a 3M executive. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1967, and moved quickly into the retailing business. He began his career with Dayton Hudson Corporation (which would become Target Corporation in 2000). Until 1981, Ulrich held a series of positions overseeing merchandising for Dayton Hudson, including overseeing merchandising for Dayton's Department Stores.
